I hate mediacom!!

For the last few months our Internet has constantly been hit or miss, with more misses. We went a whole week with no interenet a couple of weeks ago. Tonight, it had been working until I sat down to upload my videos of Porter and his new shoes. So, no videos tonight. Maybe one night this week I'll catch it in a working mood.

Bathtime is Fun time!

Trying new things

I fixed Porter a piece of flounder (without the "cheesy" part) and a little red potato mashed up with a tiny bit of butter and salt. I thought it looked de-li-cious, but Porter didn't agree. He's not much on change. He ate a few bites of fish, but wasn't thrilled about it. The potatoes were a big no. I was proud that he did chew and swallow, and not gag like he does with most new things. He was very happy to see the baby food jar make an appearance, and did eat a few bites of banana apple yogurt before he was ready for puffs and juice. My first few pictures didn't turn out too well because the flash didn't go off and I had to enhance them on the computer. I know--I should stick to my day job.

He wasn't as happy as he looked in these pictures.... I was clapping and saying, "Yea Porter!"

We'll be having these for dinner

Saran wrap in the nicu???

Seems a little out of place to see an industrial size roll of Saran wrap in the nicu. What do they use it for??? Wrap up the little babies on styrofoam plates like in the meat department? Wrap their little arms and legs so they can get a little more water weight off when they're doing their cardio??? No. They put a big piece over the top of the warmer to keep the heat in. I would take a picture of that but I can't put that on my blog. Legal reasons.

Hard Work!

Wow, is it ever hard work to get anything done around here with a baby on the move! While Jared was out having a good time today, I was at home cleaning up after him. Sound familiar??? His work desk (that is out in the open for all to see) basically doubles as a garbage can. That's what it normally looks like. I take that back--a garbage can that hasn't been emptied in over a year..... I decided to tackle it, my desk, and his bookshelf today. What would have already been an all day project, was even more of an all day project with a baby to constantly entertain and redirect. I was pretty impressed that the only thing he managed to get into his mouth was a piece of charcoal, and we only had to change his clothes once. He did take a couple good naps, which I could have used to get serious about my project, but instead used some of it to eat and sit in the recliner for a few minutes. The rest of his naptime I used to fold clothes--so I was productive. And he had the nerve to come home and say I earned my keep today!

Porter thought the boxes were an obstacle course--all he wanted to do was climb over them.

Before.....
You can't even see the 2 huge stacks of junk on top of the file cabinet that I had to sort through to see if there was anything important that I shouldn't throw away. Then I realized if it had dust on it, it probably could be safely thrown away.
After.....

I didn't get an after picture of my desk because the camera battery died, but it is completely clean now too.

The Legend of the Conch

When I got home from work Monday, there was a long slender box sitting on the kitchen counter for me.......

The card with it read: "Those who wear the conch," they say, "will return to Key West again someday." The saying comes from the fact that the conch, no matter how it is tossed and uprooted by the stormy sea, always returns home to graze placidly in the seagrass shallows.
So indestructible is this shell, it has become a symbol of strength and endurance against the sea, and for that matter, against all the storms of life.
This Key West Conch shell was designed and created as a tribute to the Island and to all who visit it with the hope that the Legend of the Conch will capture you with its spell and bring you back someday.

This is the first year since Jared and I have been together that we have not taken a trip to the Keys. The first year we went we stayed in Key West at Ocean Breeze Inn. It's near the southern most point, and is a less expensive option. We stayed in a little "Efficiency" Cottage, rented a scooter, and had a blast. The next time we went was for our honeymoon, and we stayed in a much more expensive, (and absolutely awesome) bed and breakfast called The Mermaid and The Alligator. We will be going back there someday. For the last 3 years we have stayed in or around Marathon, which is in the middle keys. We stayed a Heron's Rest, a house on the water, and Rainbow Bend Resort, and just rented a house on a canal. We have a great time every trip.
After I got my necklace and we started naming off the places we have stayed and talking about our trips, it made me miss it even more!

My office for the day

We are doing stereotactic breast biopsies today, but we don't have the machine here--we're using the mobile unit.

Andrea and Mackenzie!

Andrea was my patient at the medical center several months ago. She was pregnant and had some complications that resulted in her delivering Mackenzie 9 weeks early, and Andrea being in the hospital for a while. You would never know it now!!! Andrea is doing very well and mackenzie is happy and healthy. I got to see them today because big sister Madison is in the hospital. She has pneumonia but is doing much better and may get to go home soon.

Peek-a-boo

Post From My iPhone

Sunday evening routine

Our favorite Mexican place is La Cocina in mobile, and we have gotten in the routine of meeting our friends Daran and sissy, and their 2 boys Morgan and Jennings every Sunday afternoon/evening (it's much easier to meet at 4:45 with 3 babies). We eat and then feed porter on the way home. Things usually deteriorate before we home because he poops and is unhappy. Right now he is finished eating and is da-daing his displeasure with still being in the car. On the verge of being unhappy. Must have already pooped.
And for Leanne---iPhones are very easy!! I am posting this on the ride home.
