My bestesses

Had a great time with my good friends, Scott and Shannon, but I always have Tara and Porter in my mind no matter what I do.

I don't want that on my tray.

Porter has a little "habit" of pitching a little fit if there is something on his tray that he doesn't want. This can even include just trading out his plate for his cup. I love this part of the new house--I put his chair beside the bar so if he doesn't want something he just puts it on the bar and I don't have to hear about it!

Tub and toilet

And they actually work! The plumber came back this morning to finish up. It held up my plans to get all the clothes unpacked and in the closet, but not as much as Porter.

I know you wanted to see a picture of my toilet, right?

Trip to Niceville

This morning we went to Niceville to visit my friend Nancy, and her son Jack. Porter and Jack are close in age, and since I am just sitting around eating bon bons these days (Ha!) we decided to take a little play trip. I think the pictures themselves tell the story quite well! We had a great time and hope Nancy and Jack can come visit us soon.

Bye, bye dark

Does it look like it's gonna be a bathroom???

I have just finished getting everything up out of the floor, sweeping, mopping with vinegar water, and then mopping with Lysol. That's what I was told to do with new tile floors. They are definitely clean.
They moved the tub into it's permanent/real home this afternoon and it will be installed tomorrow, along with the toilet. Thank God neither one of us is pregnant or has prostate problems or we would have had to walk all the way across the house to get to a toilet. You can see the pipes that will go to the sinks, which will obviously be where the vanities are located. Mine will be 6" longer than jared's. :)
Today I unpacked all of the wardrobe boxes (very awesome moving invention that is a tall box with a metal rod at the top to hang clothes in) and found that I can fit all of my hanging clothes minus my long dresses and suits in the smallest bedroom closet. It's about half as big as the other closet in the bedroom, and we have added a closet in the bathroom. I think we'll be good on closet space after this. When we first looked at this house I was worried we wouldn't have enough room because there was no "walk-in closet" or a pantry, but I have been very pleasantly surprised how much room we actually have, and don't have every storage space filled. And, I certainly don't have any intention of trying to fill it up--we have entirely too much "stuff" already.
We are finally seeing the end, and I cant wait to be done!!!

Say cheese!!!

Porter has learned to smile and say "cheese" for pictures. He also knows very well what a camera is and will push it away if he is not in the mood.

He's sitting in the recliner by himself this evening with "dog," crackers, and juice. He doesn't want to sit with me. :(

Ta Da!!

Even our makeshift ministorage is starting to look a little more like a study.

All of the boxes contain Jared's clothes, a few of my clothes, and the contents of our master bathroom. The closet shelving is being installed tomorrow, so even more boxes will disappear then!

We turned it into a bedroom!!!

Don'cha just love the window treatments?!?!?!? The blinds I bought didn't fit, so I've got to return them and get custom it ones.

It was so nice to sleep in my own bed--even if I still felt like I was sleeping in a construction zone when I look in the bathroom.

Hey--at least the bathtub is in the right room for once.

2nd bath at the new house

We are able to stay at the new house. We are not "moved" or "settled." I would hope for that to be the case by the end of the week, but that will be a miracle.
We had to reorder shower tile because what we originally ordered was discontinued and nobody let the store we ordered from know. We don't know when that will be in. We are also waiting on cabinets, the trim to be finished so we can paint it, and closet shelving. All of the contents of our master bedroom and bathroom are in boxes in the study. That's why I will be wearing the same clothes over and over until this project is finished.

Oh, and the moving company didn't get all of our stuff in their truck, so Jared took a trailer back to Daphne today to get more of it, and there is still some there. We should have all of our furniture after today, but still have a garage to go through. And anyone who has seen our garage knows what a task that will be. ;)

Construction progress

I'm at sugar rush for lunch so I'll
post while we wait!!
Today when I left the house they had all the bedroom tile done and let it dry overnight, and this morning they were working on the bathroom tile.

The shower mosaic is done and there may be enough mosaic left to do the top of the bench and some green glass tile left to do a border around it.

Just finished what I can eat of the Cuban pork sandwich. Awesome. I recommend highly. Mama had the special, which was brisket caramelized onion and bleu cheese. We got bill the Philly.
