I don't know when to consider us bottle-free and put them in the cabinet, but we are now 3 days closer to whenever that is. I'm working a 24 hr shift, and I just got te confirmation that we made it another day, or I should say Jared made it another day--since I haven't been able to see porter today. Maybe tomorrow I'll put up most of the bottles and just keep one out for emergencies--whatever that might be. I would have considered last night an emergency because porter was fairly hard to get to sleep, but he finally made it.
Ok, another trauma alert is here!!!

Today
Porter didn't have a bottle today!!! He was a little fussy and hard to get to sleep tonight, but we did it. Hopefully we're making a big step toward less dishes and no more drop-ins.
We decided to get serious about the bottle thing this week. Porter has been drinking waaayyy too much milk, and since he doesn't drink as much milk when we give it to him in a cup, it just made sense--we could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. So we told the daycare our plan and let them do a lot of the dirty work. (Daycare comes in really handy that way.) He went all day today without a bottle, so I decided to see how he would do tonight. I didn't think it would be too bad since I've been cutting back on how much milk he gets at bedtime for the last 2 nights and he put up a little fight, but only for about 15 seconds (I'm not even sure you can count that a a fight). Since we've cut back on the milk he finally started eating better. He was eating maybe 2 bites of something all day (yes, I really mean all day), but for the last couple of days he has actually eaten something at every meal, and tonight at supper he ate a lot. Chicken, fries, and 2 mini Oreos. That doesn't really sound that good, but it's great compared to eating nothing.

Here he is.... Very strange---he constantly puts his index finger or thumb in his left ear when he eats. And rubs whatever he is eating in his hair behind his right ear. Very gross. We have to go straight to the tub after supper.
He's almost got 2 more top teeth, can give "high five," waves (at inappropriate times), and has started cruising along the furniture. He loves to "practice" walking while holding your hands, clap for himself, dance to any music (even his glow worm), unroll the toilet paper, turn on and off the water in the tub, open and close doors and drawers, and go "aaahhh" to scare you when you try to play peek-a-boo. I'll have to try to get a little video of that to show what I mean. And he'll be 1 year old in 1 week!!!

Porter's First Halloween
Here are the pictures from Halloween. I'm so glad Porter had a good time and didn't mind the costume. It's hard enough keeping him up past his bedtime. It helped make the time change not so painful though, so it worked out really well! And yes, I realize that we took a lot of pictures. It was just so funny and cute, it was hard to choose only a few.

Morgan caught a ride in the pot when Porter got tired of it.

Close up shots of Porter's candy bucket. I had it made at a little shop by our house.

No Internet
I took tons of pictures with our good camera last night, and when I got home remembered that we don't have Internet right now, so I can't post them to the blog. I will do it as soon as we get it back.
Porter did really well Trick or treating. He has not been feeling very good and didn't take a good nap until late yesterday afternoon, and he slept for over 3 hours. We had to wake him up to get him into his costume. He was still really tired when we were getting everything ready to go. Once he finally woke up good he had a really good time. He didn't understand it, but he would wave at everybody when we would leave their house after getting candy. He rode in his pot a good while, until he started getting tired, and then we carried him. We had a really long route because we went with our friends Daran and Sissy and all their nieces and nephews were there, and they are all a lot older. We quit a little early and took Porter back to the house. I thought he might get fussy on the ride home, but he got a new movie yesterday---Elmo's World "All About Faces"---and was glued to the tv all the way home. He loves watching his little movies--especially new ones.
Keeping him up a little late seems to have helped make the time change. He did not sleep well though. He was very fussy and noisy. And I had to give him a bottle about 2:30. That's what happens when you only eat 2 tiny pieces of chicken all day. You get hungry at night. Oh well, he's a baby, and he won't be forever. He did sleep until 6:20 new time.
I'm at work today for 12 hours. It's november, which means another month down, and only 8 to go. I'm ready to not be a resident!
