Highchair graduation

We scrubbed it down (which was gross), put it in the closet, and installed the booster seat.

Porter loves sprite

The first time he had it was a couple months ago at the fairhope arts and crafts festival. Whenever he gets any that's all he is interested in, so you have to make sure he has eaten something else first or the meal is over.
He didn't have a great day at school and I'm not surprised. On top of everything else, I was late leaving today and didn't get tp pick him up at the usual time. So we went to mcdonald's as a treat. Actually, since he has barely eaten anything for as long as I remember, food loaded with calories is what I prefer to feed him.

Porter this is sleep. Sleep this is Porter.

They are going to have to get reacquainted. I am tired. "Febrile illness" has messed us up.
Here he is watching Elmo while I get ready this morning. Does the grumpiness come through? I haven't had much luck explaining the whole connection between sleep and how you feel the next day.

Ready for my closeup

I let porter play in my makeup bag again this morning while I was drying my hair. That doesn't take long at all now that it is short, so I thought he couldn't get into much. He has figured out how to get the lid off pencil type things and operate lipstick. He even managed to get some eyeshadow on an eyelid.

Daddy's turn

Awake. Won't get out of the lap. Answers no to everything. Ice cream, puppies, juice. Nothing.

Four hours and counting

Porter has been asleep except for brief crying spells since we got home from the doctor. Jared and I have traded places a couple of times because you kinda get sore and hot being a toddler mattress.
Picture is dark, but that's because we are curled up in the recliner in our dark living room.

Febrile illness

No ear infections or other major diseases. Just a fever. Keep doing what we're doing. Glad it's not ear infections from the water this weekend. Going home to get porter a nap.

Sicker baby than last week

Porter has had fever since yesterday about mid-day, except when he is full of tylenol and motrin. We have an appointment with his pediatrician this afternoon at 1:30pm. I know that is probably pretty good for calling the same day, but we are used to being able to take him first thing in the morning. Of course, he's not eating and is cranky, but real outward signs of illness that would give us a better idea of what we're dealing with--no more vomiting, no diarrhea, no drainage from his ears. He does have a stuffy nose, so that's why I'm going with ear infection from getting water in his ears this weekend. This is what he would do when he had ear infections before the tubes. Guess we'll know more around 1:30--hopefully!!! I know I hate it when they can't tell me anything other than "a viral illness" even when I already know that's probably what I'm going to hear.
Will update.

Puffs

I'm pretty sure puffs are kinda like breastfeeding and bottles--past a certain age, you're just too old. I'm pretty confident that porter is near or past that age for puffs, but he still loves them. No nutritional value of course.
Oh, and he's had fever and a cough all day. He had a coughing fit while we were swinging this afternoon and he vomited everything except his toenails. And I got a puke shower when it started. I happened to be standing in front of him pushing the swing and I got rained on. Yuck. Poor little boy. We think it may be from getting water in his ears yesterday at the beach. We elected not to fight the earplug battle and just be careful. It looks like we were not careful enough. We'll probably be headed to the doctor tomorrow. In the meantime we are using our leftover eardrops from when he got the tubes. Abbie R.--a little help here? Any experience?

Pictures from today

This is the first time I've had a free hand all day

We are on Robinson island in orange beach today. Some of our friends rented a pontoon boat with slides for their daughter's birthday and invited us to come along. Porter is having a blast and his parents are going to be more tired than him at the end of the day. He just fell asleep after doritos and pineapple for lunch.

Sick baby update

I guess he was sick??? I was prepared for a bad day and had even stopped by rite aid to stock up on pedialyte on our way home this morning. He fell asleep on the way home and slept for a little over an hour. Then he was up acting like his normal self. He drank some pedialyte and had a couple small diarrhea diapers, but for the most part acted fine.
So we loaded up and went back to the hospital so I could get some work done. I have my grand rounds presentation tomorrow. He played ok at the hospital for a little while (as good as you can in a call room) but got tired and cranky after about an hour. He fell asleep on the way home again and slept for almost 2 hours this time. When he got up he ate 2 animal crackers and had more pedialyte. No vomiting. The only thing that has been bad are the really really stinky horrible poots. :)
Then this evening he even ate some ham out of a ham and rice dish I made and had a little breadstick. That is not normal. He doesn't usually eat. I'm very confused. I guess he's better??? Either way, I'm grateful for a better day than expected and hopefully he will be back to school tomorrow.
BTW, he has moved up to the pre-potty class at school where they work on potty training and drinking out of a real cup. And they play outside A LOT. He was so exhausted when we picked him up one day this week he cried most of the way home. He smelled like sunscreen, was sweaty, and had sand from head to toe.

Sick baby

Yes, it is only 9:00 am and we are home. The daycare called and porter had been throwing up and had diarrhea since Jared dropped him off this morning. He really was fine this morning. I have a lot to do on the computer today, do porter may be headed back to work with me in a little while, but for now he is napping on the couch.

BIG news

Porter tee teed in his potty tonight before and after his bath. I just put him on it while I was waitin for the tub to fill up and he tee teed with after a little sprinkle of water on his weenie. Then he did it again right after he got out of the tub with no prompting. I know it doesn't really mean anything but that I caught him at the right time, but it's a start. And he was so proud of himself. He was grinning so big.

House painting

I am just realizing that part of my big weekend post didn't actually post, so I'm going back and reposting all of those pictures separately.
Here are some pictures of our painting results so far. It's not much to see, and really not interesting unless you saw it before, and even then, it's no big deal, but I'm posting them anyway. ;)
Entry from carport.

You can appreciate the color better in this one. It is a darker shade of the color in the entry.

Hall bathroom.

So far we have done the entry, den, and kitchen (den and kitchen are really all one room). We are doing all of the trim too, and we have made it through the area we have painted, and we've done the trim, chair rail and crown molding in the dining room.

Honor flight arrival

We were able to see the Covington county region veterans return home after their day in Washington DC Saturday night. What an amazing oppotunity for those men--I know some of them would have never been able to do anything like that on their own. An emotional event that you should try to attend if you have the chance. Porter really enjoyed the firetruck and airplane. (he went in his pjs since it was at his bedtime when the flight was going to arrive.)

We got to sit in the cockpit of the plane after all the people got off. Porter was a little overwhelmed.
