Beer Club

Jared's father's day gift has finally arrived. It's not late though. I got him a 4 month membership to a domestic microbrew beer of the month club. His first month's selections arrived this afternoon. He's got 2 chilling now.
I thought this was the most awesome father's day gift, so I hope he likes the beers!!

Alabama Open Spearfishing Tournament

I entered a spearfishing tournament for the 1st time this weekend. I haven't done any diving or spearfishing since 2007 so I was a little nervous. When I actually got out there I was very comfortable and excited about shooting some fish. That competitive side came out. My first shot was the snapper, and I stoned him--kill shot. My next shot was the sheepshead. He's not that big, but he's a category, so you always try to get a fish in each category. I took a shot at a nice amberjack, but nicked him on his head, and he was gone. If I had gotten the amberjack I would have a good chance of winning the Queen title (overall winner) because there's only a couple of women that enter. The awards ceremony is this afternoon, so we'll see what happens.

Email from Todd and Joni Cheney

Todd and Joni sent out an email this morning that is as follows:

As most of you know, Anna Todd went to be with our Lord in Heaven on July 17th. Todd and I will always love our precious daughter and will continue to miss her more than words can express. Although the mystery of God's love does not give us all the answers, our comfort and peace comes from knowing that she is smiling and sitting in the arms of God.

Many of you are concerned and overwhelmed at the magnitude of this tragedy. How could a 4 month old baby be gone so soon? Everyone has asked what they can do to help and of course your prayers are very needed and appreciated. One thing that will help get us through this storm is that Anna Todd's memory lives on forever. Please see the attachment of how we will carry out her memory through the Anna Todd Cheney Memorial Fund. The impact YOU can make by supporting our mission will be amazing to those who are facing their own storms and adversity!

We love you all and pray for God's continued Blessings!

Joni and Todd

Jared feeding Porter

I had this video in my email when I finished my case last night. Jared is just as funny as Porter is.

Blame Aunt Kim and Nannie Harden...

...if you don't like Porter's outfit.

The ladies at daycare didn't exactly know how to take it. They told him he wasn't allowed to wear it anymore. :)

Pensacola Friends

We took an afternoon trip to Pensacola to visit some friends we haven't seen in a while. Porter got to meet lots of new friends because he had not been to Pensacola before. Last time we saw them there were no babies, and now there are three. The Bailey's now have Griffy, and The Seuzeneau's (yes I cheated off Facebook) now have Paige. We tried to get pictures, but you can see how that turned out. I actually had a really good one, but my flash didn't go off, so you can barely see anything. I tried to fix it on the computer, but it still looks crappy.

Watch out Porter--that Paige is a little aggressive!!! Griffy wants a turn!!!

Porter Noises

The last few days have been rough, but I know I don't understand what Todd and Joni are experiencing. It's the worst thing I could ever imagine, and will always be our worst fear. Jared spoke to Todd briefly last night, but otherwise we have not contacted them. I know they have lots of family and friends in town. They are two of the nicest people we have ever met. We have really enjoyed their friendship over the last year and they are constantly in our thoughts right now.
We have always treasured every minute we have with Porter, but it can be so easy to forget what a tremendous gift from God he is and to remember that he is ultimately God's to have. It's our job to help him realize his full potential as God has for him. We should never ever take for granted that we have been blessed with a healthy, perfect little boy, and that God could want him back at any moment.
On a lighter note, he has started saying ga-ga. That's all he can say right now, and in response to everything. He has a baby einstein dvd that is "Baby's first Sounds" that goes through all the little sounds. When the video says d- d- dog, Porter says ga-ga-ga. He also makes a scream/growl type noise that he is quite proud of--he keeps getting louder and louder. Here is a little video that demonstrates his new skills.

Anna Todd Cheney

God took his little angel home this evening. My heart hurts for the Cheney family. Please keep Todd and Joni in your prayers.

Anna Todd Cheney

One of our friends little girl was admitted to the PICU at childrens's hospital in mobile last night. She is very sick and the doctors are not sure what is going on yet. Please pray for Anna Todd, and her parents Todd and Joni.
They have a blog that is listed in our blogging friends section--The Cheney Family.

We're watching it rain!

It has rained every day this week, but somehow we seem to miss it here in Daphne. Mobile got 1 1/2 inches the other day and we got nothing. Jared just called and said it was lightning all around him at Scott's house.

Laughing and Hiccuping Porter

I love to hear Porter laugh. It's hard to get it on video because we usually don't have a video camera handy, but now that we have video on our phones it's much easier. Here is a video we took the other night of him laughing. He had been laughing so hard he gave himself he hiccups. We just caught the end of it, but still got a little footage. ***Note: This video is not great--it's sideways and I can't figure out how to turn it up. It was for the sound more than the picture.***

Blue Angels

Saturday was the season opening show for the blue angels. This year we went with our friends Sissy and Daran, and some of our work friends--Dr. Maltese (a CVT surgeon we know), Travis (one of my classmates), and several nurses and CRNAs. Here are the pictures....
Dr Maltese's boat, his daughters, and 16 of their closest friends. Yes, they did get pulled over by the marine police, but didn't get a ticket.

Travis and I.
Jared and Daran.

Sissy and I.
The show. There are other planes doing a little show before the blue angels.

The coolest picture I took this year. It was totally coincidental. It is very hard to get good pictures anyway because the planes are so close, and going so fast.

Sick Day

Porter has some viral infection that is making his throat red an ears hurt. He doesn't have a real bacterial infection, but the pediatrician gave him an antibiotic anyway, because he's worried that it would turn into a bacterial infection. He's going to be hanging out with daddy today. This pic is from last night. Even when he's sick he enjoys playing in the tub.

Long night

Porter didn't feel good last night, so now nobody feels good this morning. We were up all night, and it looks like porter wants to make up for that lost sleep.

Bathtime

Just in case anybody forgot, Porter loves his bath. Last night I took some pictures. He transitioned to the big tub just fine. He has more room to splash and chases after toys the whole time.
