Brown bear, brown bear

This classic book has been a regular at bedtime for well over a year now. Porter knows all the animals, but he's stuck on red right now, so it's always red yellow duck, and red green frog, and so forth. But, now when we get to this page

it's not red white dog, it's Cracker, and he is quick to correct you should you accidentally say white dog, white dog. The same thing goes for any slip ups at the end of the book too.

Christmas video

The clips from the flip are imported into iMovie, and I've been working on editing it, but we are having a toy story marathon, so.... To infinity, and beyond!!!

Wow! What a day

This posts will be bulletted due to jumping topics.
1. I have no pictures of Christmas 2010 on my real camera. In fact, I didn't realize I had left it at my nannie's house this morning until my mom informed me of it this evening on our way home from mobile.
2. I am soothing the aches of today with Pennsylvania dutch egg big, courtesy of my father-in-law. Also, I am wearing my new pj's and new ugg bedroom slippers. The slippers are wonderful. (I now feel like I'm 60.)
3. Though there are no real photos, we have recorded our christmas morning with our new flip video camera and I hope to learn how to edit it on the Mac and post the abbreviated/edited for content version tomorrow.
3. We were not prepared for today. I don't know how else to state it. We need a better plan next year. We'll call this our transition year.
4. Hit gift that was iffy: powermat for iPhone 4. I got this for Jared since he currently puts his phone to charge in our bed. A-noy-ying. He opened it last night and we tried it out. Much better. We will be looking into getting another larger mat for the kitchen and a receiver for my phone.
5. Most dangerous gift: nerf guns from uncle mark. Thank you, thank you. Like I said earlier, the little "bullets" might disappear very soon.
6. Porter's favorite gift: probably buzz lightyear, but it's hard to tell. It could be that buzz is just the most portable and agreeable at this point. He likes cracker, but is suspicious that cracker is out to steal all his stuff, which at this point he is because everything he comes in contact with is a chew toy.
7. We are exhausted.
8. Apparently we are also hungry. I'm sitting here sipping on egg nog and eating fruit roll ups and suggested to Jared that deer snack sticks would be good and he went outside to get some out of the deep freezer in the storage room.
9. Gifts I've used so far: pj's, egg nog, ugg boots, ugg slippers, clothes, make up, chapstick, flip video camera, ummm, that's all I can think of right now. But I plan on getting into a lot of them tomorrow, including my pancake mix and new griddle.
10. Supposedly it snowed in Andalusia, but we were on our way back from mobile then, and all it did was rain on us.

Ok, ten points is enough right now. Video to come tomorrow--hopefully.

Merry Christmas!!

Porter has already had enough!
We have Santa-ed and visited with some of our family and now we're on our way to mobile to visit with the Harden side.

Cracker is now occupied in his crate for a minute with treats and greenies in a kong. He slept with us last night because his crate is not quite homey enough for him yet. ;)

Pic from last night....

Most of our Santa documentation is on video because my parents got us a flip video camera. I'll be playing with it to hopefully learn how to edit the video on the computer and can post some of that.

2 must haves

1. iPhone owners - AppleCare protection plan. Absolute necessity. Jared and I have had iPhones since the beginning and we have also had AppleCare. My new iPhone has been having trouble with the mic--I can hear phone conversations just fine, bit nobody can hear me. I called apple, told them about my problem and I will have a new phone tomorrow. It's always overnight service. I sync my old phone, then sync the new phone as my phone, erase my old phone, and then put it in the box and send it back to apple. It's not the first time we've had to do it and every time it's been that easy. We will always have AppleCare. Worth the money.
2. For Keurig owners - I just found the sweet tea and hot apple cider for the Keurig. I tried out both and they are great. I got them at bed bath and beyond and they had other flavors of sweet tea too. I will be getting more of these.

Fun times with a little mind

I was laying in bed with porter this morning (I brought him to our bed for a little snuggle time when he first woke up), and it was all quiet because he had fallen back asleep, when all of a sudden he sat straight up in bed and said, "mama! I saw cats!" in a very enthusiastic voice. I guess he was dreaming about cats??? Anyway, it made me think about all the funny things he's already starting to say, and I thought I better write it down--type, these days.
The most memorable and funny story from the last few months is the "oh no! Dey pick cot!" one. So, my mom wanted to get all the Ingram grandkids together for a picture in the cotton, but wanted to wait until it was ready to pick. That's dangerous because you never know when it is going to get picked. There was a great cotton crop across the street from my parents house (don't forget we are in south Alabama--this arrangement is fairly normal) and we were trying to plan the right afternoon. We had a date set one week for a thursday. My mom had to pick up porter for me on Tuesday afternoon, and as she drove up to the house she saw our cotton date had been messed up and exclaimed, "oh no! They picked our cotton!" A couple of days later I was driving to my moms house with porter am as we got to about where my mom must have seen the picked cotton, porter exclaims in I'm sure what must have been the same tone and emphasis as my mom, "oh no! Dey pick cot!" He did this every time we would pull up, for weeks.
Earlier this week we were at my mom's eating supper and porter was running around playing and he ran in the kitchen, stopped and said "mama, guess what?" we never heard what the "what" was, but it was funny. Guess he learned that at school? Not here.
His favorite book right now is a Thomas the train book. At one part in the book, a cow stands on the tracks in front of Thomas and the line in the book says, "oh no! A cow's in the way!" Regularly, he brings me that book, turned to that pages and says, "mama, oh no, a cow's in da way!" (we sat oh no! a lot around here.)
Along the same lines, the backyardigans is his favorite tv show and we have several of their DVDs. Porter likes to identify which one he wants to watch by either repeating a line or singing a little bit of the song from that episode. "say ya!" "he he he," and "arrrggghh" all identify different episodes. And he says it exactly the way they do in the show.
"Duke Nasty" is now my parent's neighbor's dog. His name is Duke and one day I told him Duke was nasty....
This one is so old my mom may have forgotten. She has some handweights in her bathroom (she works out in the bathroom???) and porter was trying to pick one of them up and informed her "it's stuck."
The first time porter actually ate some of his ice cream sundae from dairy queen he said, "chocowate. I wike it."
And last but not least. One night during porter's bath, he "made" me something, so we had a quick exit from the tub. I let the water out and his creation was still in the tub and he looks over in the tub at it, points, and says, "it's a wock!"

Nana and papa claus

Oh, porter will be so excited when this is finished. Jared has been working on porter's christmas gift from my parents. I'll post more pics as it comes along. The big reveal will be Christmas morning. It's getting moved to the backyard in the morning.

In the backyardigans zone

Porter's favorite show is by far the backyardigans. And he can actually say it pretty well. This is a full belly backyardigans trance...

Porter wanted to sit by "bwue" tonight.

And then on bwue.

And then bwue had alien eyes and got down because aliens don't like little boys laying on them.

Not quite quick enough

Porter and blue are getting reacquainted again. Blue is staying inside more because we found cooter brown a duck hunting home. There aren't many ducks in our backyard, and that's what cooter brown's do. We were a little sad to see him leave our home, but know that his new home is a great place for him. He has a 13 year old duck hunter and a daddy duck hunter to keep him busy. And I found out today he has a 17 year old boy duck hunting neighbor. Have fun cooter brown!!!
Anyway, I was about 2 seconds too late to get a non-blurry picture of this, but you get the idea. Blue loves to follow this little food dropping monster around, but at times he has to put up with a little two year old torture. He takes it well.

A night with "the girls"

Wow. This wasn't any sort of girls night out you are thinking of We made crayons, hula hooped, played with blocks, played dress-up, hid in tents, lotioned up everyone, and had general madness for 2 1/2 hours. I didn't have much opportunity for pictures, but here are a few.

Oh no!! Sick porter. (funny to anybody that's been around porter lately)

Porter developed fever Sunday around 11:00 am. The nursery worker came and got me out of church to tell and and hand him over. I must have been loopy after that because I decided to take him back in church. After we sat down I thought "what have I just done." porter can't sit through a commercial, much less through 20 or so more minutes of a sermon. Surprise!!! He did just that. And with little direction. He actually fell asleep before the sermon was over and slept through the announcements and the closing worship song. I knee he must really be sick.
He slept all the way home with little rosy cheeks. I just happened to have some Tylenol in his bag so I gave him some.
Then at bathtime, I noticed hr had chill bumps all over, but the water was quite warm. I got him out, dressed him and gave him more Tylenol but he was already spiking a big temp. It was 102.7 before I took it out from under his arm, so I imagine it was at least 103. He went right to sleep--at 7:00pm.
We were only up once during the night last night for some Tylenol and Jared called this morning for a doctor's appointment. I really hate to be that parent that shows up every time my child has a runny nose or little fever, and usually give him a day or so before I will give in. Today I just decided to go ahead and go. And I am glad we went. They did a CBC and his WBC count was 13.8, with a left shift and a few bands--indicating a bacterial infection rather than a regular ole virus. We have antibiotics and ear drops. Dr E didn't pinpoint it, but didn't want it to go to his ears or settle in his chest. He does already have a nasty cough. I just can't put him in his own bed with fever and such, so he'll be our little heater again tonight. I just can't bear the thought of him being in his own bed and something bad happening and me not even know it. I know I'm paranoid because of my background, but I would rather have to deal with maybe changing our sheets or snuggling a little bit to some of the alternatives I've seen.
But now maybe I'll be a little more paranoid to begin with and just take him to the doctor early.
