I'm very naive
Apparently this is a homeade pipe used to smoke marijuana. Came out of the pocket of one of our trauma patients this evening.

My punkin
This is what I had to leave at 5:30 this morning to go to work.
Porter was busy eating breakfast and watching toons.
However, Jared called me a little while ago and said he had one of his little helpless spells where he wants you to carry him everywhere and if you don't he just rolls around on the floor and whines. He called me from the truck--Jared was driving him around so he could drink his coffee.

Reading books
I've had this video on my phone for a while, but I just now got around to downloading it to the computer to be able to post it.
Things you give toddlers on long car trips
This was supposed to be posted last week on our way to Andalusia, but the service was too bad, and I just saw it in my blog app.....
We've already been through:
1. Animal crackers (an obvious choice, and we are teaching him young that food can also be used to occupy your time or make you feel better)
2. Juice---what kid doesn't get enough juice these days
3. Movies
4. His socks (he took them off when started getting bored and threw them down, so that didn't last too long)
5. A plastic solo cup
6. Jared's toothbrush
That should tell you we're running out of options and hopefully we will be to Nana and Papa's soon or we'll just have to let him start crawling through the back of the 4 runner to find his own toys.

It's 8:15
I'm in my pj's and fuzzy green slippers, wrapped up in my snuggie and comfy in the recliner. I'm exhausted. Porter is showing no signs if slowing down. Here is my view from the recliner.
And in case you were wondering---no, we don't ever pick up the toys. Just no point, and there are a million other things ahead of that on the list every day.

1 down, 4 to go
I am supervising morning checkout for my 24 hr shift. In 23 1/2 hours I will only have 4 more 24 hour shifts at the medical center ever!!! I say 1 down, because the anxiety and dread of the shift makes it hard to get out of bed, so that's most of e battle. Once I'm here it usually goes by pretty quick.
My next 2 shifts are over the new year holiday (24 on, 24 off, 24 on, 24 off), then 2 more in January.

Meeting results!!!!
The schedule passed. Not without a "discussion" between myself and our former program director. Yes, that's right--former. I have known, but didn't want to publish it before the official announcement. Our program director has been replaced.
Anyway, our residents are excited and renewed.
Doesn't Porter look excited???

Santa picture comparison
Don't know about this Santa claus guy
He didn't want to let go of me when I put him in Santa's lap, she snapped the picture, and then he was fine. He looked over at Santa's beard wondering what it was and then just sat there and listened to him talk.
Oh, and Santa thought he was a girl. He is a pretty little boy with curls and long eyelashes, but still looks like a boy to me.
