My worlds collide
Lord what a morning!!! I need to change Stella's middle name to "bad luck" or "beware on holidays....."
Last week she picked up my glass bathroom scale and dropped it. Little shards of glass went everywhere in the bathroom. I swept, shook out the rugs and then vacuumed them to make sure all the glass was gone. This morning I took her to the bathroom with me and was going to let her get in the shower with me. I turned the water on and put her down on the rug in front of the shower. She immediately started screaming and I thought she was mad because she wanted to go ahead and get in. Porter wanted juice so I picked her up and took her to the kitchen to get him juice before we got in the shower. When I put her down on the counter in the kitchen and turned around I saw a trail of blood. After investigation I found it coming from the the bottom of her foot. I suspected a cut from that glass immediately. Fast forward an hour after I literally showered, dressed, did my hair and makeup with her on my hip because she would not get down. X ray shows a piece of glass. To the OR she goes....
What other mother has this picture of their child???
I had to go back to the OR to talk to dr day because he was having trouble getting it out. Finally got it though. Bigger incision that expected, but it's out!!
Headed to recovery.....
Snoozing in recovery....
Nannie took her to David's catfish house for lunch when she was discharged and she was feeling good. This is when I hate not being able to take the rest of the day off to be with my baby, but I know she is in good hands.

I can get my life back!!!
Oral boards are over!! Who cares right now if I passed or not--it's done. I will find out Thursday if I passed. In the mean time, I'm going to enjoy being free from the burden of guilt for not studying ever waking moment, and from the guilt of not being there like I should for my kids, and from the guilt of requiring so much from my mom and bill. I certainly wouldn't have been able to do any of it without them.
So, on to bigger and better things--because the oral boards is certainly not where it's at. Miss Stella had a birthday today--15 months!! She is such a hoot. Her little personality is blossoming and we have been amazed at how much she knows. It's like airflow switch was flipped when she turned one, and she all of a sudden became a little person.
The kitchen counter is one of her favorite perches. I guess because she is eye level with me. She frequently eats bananas on her perch.
She lets me put things in her hair. Kinda. If you trick her. Here is her little strawberry bow that we got at the fairhope arts and crafts festival this year--separate post later.
She's sweet and fiery. Temper, temper, temper. Obviously it was inherited, but the good news is if she inherited it from me she will outgrow it. If she inherited it from her daddy-o, well, it will grow with her. ;)
Big brother is perfecting the art of pestering lately, and he's got it down. He can make Stella scream faster and better than I can do a gallbladder (that's pretty darn fast AND good).
We are working on the pestering. I know it must be something we deal with a lot when I hear Stella scream, I look toward the direction of the noise, and I see porter in Stella's personal space, and he says "I'm not pestering her!"
This is the only decent picture I have of porter from the last couple of months. He refuses to have his picture taken. The only way I got this one was because I told him I was taking a picture of the crawfish. It wasn't a lie....
Anyway, I am happy to have my "normal" surgeon and functioning single mom of a 4 year old and 1 year old life back. Just peachy.
So I said this before, but I really mean it this time--I'm gonna stay caught up with my blogging, AND I'm gonna go through all my Disney pictures.
