Disney Day 2: Magic Kingdom

The weather was a bit overcast to start the morning, but it was welcomed. No sweating in the Magic Kingdom!!!

We debated taking Porter on The Pirates of the Caribbean, but decided to do it as a warm up and test for The Haunted Mansion. He loves pirates, and anything that might be remotely related to pirates (i.e. skull and cross bones = pirate). He did pretty good. He seemed a little unsure, but in true testosterone fashion, didn't let on that it might have bothered him.
So, after POC, we did The Haunted Mansion. It might have been the sweetest time with my little man for me, but would not top his list of rides at MK. As soon as we got on the moving part of the ride and it got dark, he just went limp in my lap. He was very still (back to the statue/frozen concept... If I'm really really still, it can't get me???). Then as we got deeper into the ride, he turned his head to the side so the side of his face was against my chest. Continued limp and frozen. I put my hand on the other side of his face and my other hand around his waist. Then he worked his little hands up under mine. So sweet!!! And soooo funny. The ride stopped at one point, and Jared and I were just carrying on a conversation. Porter was still frozen. He stayed like that for the entire ride, but as soon as we got back to where he could see light, he perked up, clapped and said Yea!!!, and then said "On get out."

It's a small world. Porter loved it. Great classic Disney ride. We didn't ride it last year, but everyone should do it every time they are at MK.






"Ride horses!" We heard that a lot. Every time we passed the carousel. We rode it more than once.




PIcture with Peter Pan. This was the I'm frozen as long as I am on the ground, but when you pick me up I'll give Peter Pan a very enthusiastic bye bye.


We had lunch at Tony's Town Square, which is "modeled" after the restaurant in Lady and the Tramp. Late lunch with tired toddler = I didn't eat much and Jared ended up rocking Porter to sleep in the restaurant. Then I ate.

After lunch we strolled Porter for a little while and walked through a couple of the shops before heading back to the room for official naptime. It was a very successful morning at MK!!! Porter took a great nap and then we got up and ready for the Hoop Dee Doo Revue!!!

Last post from first day

Here are pics from Porter getting his own Hotdog and his dinner entertainment. We didn't have dinner reservations, so we decided to venture out to Downtown Disney to eat. All of the restaurants were packed, with long waits. We were tired and hungry, and we were less than our best. We ended up waiting for about 30 minutes to eat at Bongo's Cuban Cafe. Jared and I both love cuban food, so we just dealt with it. Plus, all other restaurants had about the same wait. Porter scored this little car toy to get us through the wait.

Hotdog's House!!!

We have been telling Porter that we were going to go see Hotdog, and his house, for the days leading up to our trip. He thought every large and interesting looking building there was Hotdog's House. After you tour the house and backyard/garden, you can go into a separate "tent" where you can have your picture made with Mickey and Minnie. This was the first character Porter saw, so we weren't sure how it would go. He seemed excited when he saw them at a distance, but froze as soon as they were right there. It became so funny over the course of the trip to see him react to the characters he got to meet. We would sit him down (or stand him) next to the character, and it would be like he was a statue. He kept his feet right where they hit the ground, arms didn't move, head didn't move, and he wouldn't even move his eyes to look around. It was hilarious. Then as soon as you would pick him back up, he immediately snapped out of it, and would turn to wave and say bye bye. I've got some great shots of one in particular that I will not reveal at this time.

First afternoon at Disney

This is the beginning of the Disney posts. There will be many. When I downloaded our pictures this evening, there were over 700. Don't worry. Not all of them were post worthy. I will not even be able to have a separate post for each day. Some of the posts will be per ride/attraction--especially Animal Kingdom. Some of their walking trails have so much to see.
Anyway, like I said earlier, we arrived earlier than expected, so we added a day to our park ticket and got right down to business--THE Magic Kingdom. Here are some pics from that first afternoon....
This is in the Monsters Inc. Laugh Room. A great attraction, but a little over Porter's head. Maybe in a couple years....

Porter and Jared rode the racecars. A bit too bumpy for Porter.

We rode the train around the entire park....

He loved the little playground at Toontown. He would have stayed all day.... but we didn't drive all this way and spend $$$ for a playground. ;)





Next was "Hotdog's House" (Mickey Mouse. Hotdog comes from the hotdog dance on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cartoon.)

"I got socks!"

That's what he said when we put on his new footie pj's last night. Then he said, "it's cute.". He's with my nannie today--he threw up last night, and slept in it all night. Yuck!! So he had to get a shower with Jared this morning. Then he started having diarrhea diapers and had 4 dirty ones before we could get to nannie's.



I will really try to get some Disney pics loaded tonight. I have been really busy this week--very good thing. Today I have cases in Andalusia, luverne, and opp. I was in all 3 places yesterday too.

Headed home

What a great vacation!!! We got going at a decent hour this morning. But not like we were off to the races. It's 9:40am central time, and we are on I-75 somewhere. Almost to gainesville. Porter is enjoying his toys in the backseat.



Notice the Mickey mouse bracelet on his right arm.
