Oh no!! Sick porter. (funny to anybody that's been around porter lately)
Porter developed fever Sunday around 11:00 am. The nursery worker came and got me out of church to tell and and hand him over. I must have been loopy after that because I decided to take him back in church. After we sat down I thought "what have I just done." porter can't sit through a commercial, much less through 20 or so more minutes of a sermon. Surprise!!! He did just that. And with little direction. He actually fell asleep before the sermon was over and slept through the announcements and the closing worship song. I knee he must really be sick.
He slept all the way home with little rosy cheeks. I just happened to have some Tylenol in his bag so I gave him some.
Then at bathtime, I noticed hr had chill bumps all over, but the water was quite warm. I got him out, dressed him and gave him more Tylenol but he was already spiking a big temp. It was 102.7 before I took it out from under his arm, so I imagine it was at least 103. He went right to sleep--at 7:00pm.
We were only up once during the night last night for some Tylenol and Jared called this morning for a doctor's appointment. I really hate to be that parent that shows up every time my child has a runny nose or little fever, and usually give him a day or so before I will give in. Today I just decided to go ahead and go. And I am glad we went. They did a CBC and his WBC count was 13.8, with a left shift and a few bands--indicating a bacterial infection rather than a regular ole virus. We have antibiotics and ear drops. Dr E didn't pinpoint it, but didn't want it to go to his ears or settle in his chest. He does already have a nasty cough. I just can't put him in his own bed with fever and such, so he'll be our little heater again tonight. I just can't bear the thought of him being in his own bed and something bad happening and me not even know it. I know I'm paranoid because of my background, but I would rather have to deal with maybe changing our sheets or snuggling a little bit to some of the alternatives I've seen.
But now maybe I'll be a little more paranoid to begin with and just take him to the doctor early.

The big event: The Not So Scary Halloween Party
Awesome, awesome, awesome! Would highly recommend. It was crowded, but the crowds were managed well, and the candy made it all worth it for Porter. He did get to have a sucker and some smarties that night (his favorite), but we still have a huge bag of candy out of reach from little sticky hands.
We got some really cool pictures of the castle at night with the spooky lighting.
Porter's new to the whole trick or treating scene. He didn't really understand why he had to hold this bag out and say trick or treat, but then the candy went in. He would have put his whole head in the bag to see what it was if it would fit. He looked up and said, "Canny!"
The Goofy Candy Company globes marked the candy stops throughout the park. We walked through most of the park and hit all but a few of the candy stops. We had plenty of candy before we left, but just to make sure you got your money's worth, when you exited the park they had huge barrels of candy that they were topping people off with. We skipped that part.
The Boo-to-you parade. Led by the headless horseman. The good camera died just a few minutes into the parade, and these are the last pictures of the trip. :( Such a great time. This is definitely a trip we will remember forever.
*sigh* That's it for Disney this year. Can't wait to go back--maybe next year?

Getting in costume
This was truly a treat. Halloween is so much more fun experiencing it through your child. We had a little bit of a time getting him into his costume, but once he was dressed he had a ball. He loved running around in his spiyaman outfit.
Back to Disney (again): Day 4--Halloween Day
Magic Kingdom again on the day of halloween. We were able to do all the things we really enjoyed again. Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan's Flight, the carousel, and the magic carpets, just to name a few. We also did a few new things--the people mover train ride through tomorrowland (great ride), and Dumbo! Porter had been wanting to "ride the elephants" every time we passed, but the line was super long every time. We went there first this time and had a very short wait.
This was the parental highlight of the day. Alice in Wonderland was out for pictures. We put Porter down beside Alice, and he turned on this very shy flirty look. He kept his head down and looking away, but would bat his eyes and cut them over to look at her and had his little "smirky grin" (as my mom calls it) plastered on his face the whole time. Of course without moving an inch the entire time. Would not look at her or the camera for anything. Then we pick him up, he turns it off, and happily waves and says "Bye, Awice." We cracked up!
