The last few days have been rough, but I know I don't understand what Todd and Joni are experiencing. It's the worst thing I could ever imagine, and will always be our worst fear. Jared spoke to Todd briefly last night, but otherwise we have not contacted them. I know they have lots of family and friends in town. They are two of the nicest people we have ever met. We have really enjoyed their friendship over the last year and they are constantly in our thoughts right now.
We have always treasured every minute we have with Porter, but it can be so easy to forget what a tremendous gift from God he is and to remember that he is ultimately God's to have. It's our job to help him realize his full potential as God has for him. We should never ever take for granted that we have been blessed with a healthy, perfect little boy, and that God could want him back at any moment.
On a lighter note, he has started saying ga-ga. That's all he can say right now, and in response to everything. He has a baby einstein dvd that is "Baby's first Sounds" that goes through all the little sounds. When the video says d- d- dog, Porter says ga-ga-ga. He also makes a scream/growl type noise that he is quite proud of--he keeps getting louder and louder. Here is a little video that demonstrates his new skills.
