Porter's 1st Build-A-Bear

Porter went to BaB for the first time this weekend while we were in Destin. He went with Catherine and Caroline--old pros. They even have the BaB closet for all of their bear clothes. Porter "built" a monkey and dressed him in swim trunks. Here is a video of the girls bathing their bears after they were stuffed. Catherine was nice enough to bath Porter's monkey for him.

Mother's Day Weekend

This was my first Mother's Day!  It was fun....  Porter and I went to Andalusia.  Jared stayed in Mobile to hang out with Beau and Leigh.  Porter had his 6 month pictures made at Vicki's.  Of course, I've been dying to see them since the moment we left.  Then we went up to Nannie's to work on a few onesies for him.   He has outgrown all of the ones we made before he was born.  Then we came home and went swimming.  Last time we turned on the heat in the hot tub, but this time it was a little too warm outside for that, so we had to ease ourselves in.  Porter wasn't sure what to think of cold water when we first got in, but he still seemed to enjoy it after he got used to it.  He would always take a big deep breath in when I would lower him into the water a little bit more.  Sunday after church the fam came over for food and swimming.  Porter and I had to come back home, so he didn't get to swim.  He was too tired anyway.  When I got back, Jared was boiling crawfish in the front yard, so we had another big meal.  I love big weekends, but I'm always a little too ambitious and am more tired than I was before the weekend started.  But it sure was fun....
This is one of the new onesies we made this weekend.
You'll be seeing this outfit again.  He wore it for some of his 6 month pictures.  It's so sweet.  And it makes those baby blues even brighter.

Catherine and Caroline love Porter.  Catherine always wants to hold him, and they are great entertainment.  He watches them and they make him laugh.  My favorite quote of the weekend was from Caroline.....
She was playing with Porter, and I came by and smelled a poopy diaper.  I get him up and take him to change his diaper.  Caroline is running being me screaming, "I want to see his butt."

Easter Weekend

This was a much needed weekend off and away for me. I've been working a pretty random schedule for the last little while at work, and last week I worked a week of nights to end it all. I don't do well with working nights--to put it mildly. Any extended period working nights calls for medication. So Friday morning when I got home I was very excited and ready for the weekend. This is what I came home to.....
Porter always migrates to this corner of the bed. It doesn't matter where you put him in the bed, he will end up here. We've started him with his feet touching the other end, but it doesn't matter. And Thursday night, we had an escapee arm.....
He played in his exersaucer while I packed his stuff. He has started to figure the thing out, but this is the only toy he plays with right now.

He had to visit the ducks when we got home. They've grown so much since last weekend. I don't think he really cared about them one way or the other. He was staring off into space most of the time. We just put the duck in front of where he was looking to make it look like he was looking at the duck.
Saturday morning we took Porter, Catherine, and Caroline to the Easter Parade and Easter Egg Hunt at FBC.

And Saturday afternoon, Porter "swam" in the hot tub at Nana and Papa's. I think he enjoyed it. He didn't cry, so I count it. He will probably enjoy it more when he can float in one of the little baby boats. He can't quite sit up well enough to handle that yet.

The Easter Bunny came. Porter was still a little sleepy and trying to wake up. He got 2 outfits, a bib, a crayon holder and crayons, sunglasses, and lots of chocolate (I worked a deal with the Easter Bunny).

He looked very handsome in his Easter man-suit. It's very masculine and shows off his muscles. (His Daddy was worried about gender identity issues--he doesn't even know what we could have dressed him in.....)

Baby Ducks!

Mama and Bill got 4 baby ducks this weekend. They live in the basement right now, but when they "grow up" they are going to live in the pond/lake behind their house. I'm suprised Catherine and Caroline got as close as they did, as they are usually scared of their own shadow. Porter visited the ducks too, but they didn't take any pictures. I didn't get to go because I'm working a 24 hr shift today, but I'll get to be home for Easter, and we will take some pictures then. Also, Porter is going to go swimming! We have been working on his swimming duds, and are really excited to see how he does. He likes his bath so much I can't imagine that he wouldn't like it. We are just going to heat up the hot tub and let him "swim" in there. It's too cold for the big pool still. Here are some pictures of the ducks. I've been told they all have names, but Catherine was not available for comment when I was posting, so I'll have to ask her later what their names are.

Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival 2009

This weekend was the 50-something-th Annual Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival. The streets of Fairhope are blocked off, and over 200 artists have booths with their artwork for sale. There are some really amazing things there, and we look forward to this weekend all year. Mama and Bill came down for it--this was Bill's first trip. Mama, Nicole, and the little girls came last year. We got a couple of spoons from the Spoon Man, a turtle painting, and Jared got an alligator.... you'll see later. Here are some pictures from the day. Porter got some wooden cars and trucks, a "Porter" train, some green beans (I think he could have done without if it were up to him) and lots of lovin' from the ladies.

Catherine, Caroline, and Porter.
Aunt Moth Ball and Porter. He's worried that she might eat him.
He's worried she might try to eat him again later.
Aunt Kim and Porter.
First day with vegetables. We tried to hide them amongst the fun-filled Fairhope day. Didn't work. He was not fooled for a minute. He's on top of things...
Done.
Riding Daddy's alligator. It's a bad picture, but it is so funny. It's just the right size for him.

Day 21

Today Porter went to Andalusia with Nana and Papa because I have to work a 24 hr shift. He's going to come back with Nannie in the morning, and he's got a doctor's appointment at 10:00. He's feeling better, and starting to eat again. He played with Catherine and Caroline this afternoon, and they both had to take turns holding him.
Catherine and Caroline are both in love with their Papa, and it looks like Nana may have lost another one to the Papa. Porter is mesmerized, and watches him everywhere he goes. Porter also visited Nannie King today (Bill's mother) and I hear he had a good time at her house too.

I can't imagine who packed him this bib.....

Day 12

This is my last night shift for a while. Hopefully a long while. I was finally able to sleep today and am a little less zombie-ish. Porter stayed with Nannie for most of the day, but Mama took off work a little early to go get him. He finally got to meet all the AEC ladies today. I called Mama while she was at AEC with him and I could hear all of them in the background.
I have been in the OR since I got to work tonight and thought Mama would forget to take pictures today, but I got a nice suprise in my email. Apparently Porter got to feed the ducks with Catherine and Caroline this afternoon.

Feeding the ducks.....

This is the Porter wanna-be that Catherine has been "babysitting" lately.
