Water Baby Part 3

Porter liked the end of the slip-n-slide so well that we got him a little sprinkler mat this afternoon when we got home. I had thought about getting one, or a baby pool, but didn't know if he would like it, and worried that the bugs would be too bad. I was wrong about both. He loved it, and the bugs didn't bother him at all. The only thing that did was when we had to go inside because it started raining. (I know he was already wet, but I was afraid of lightning.)

Happy 4th of July!

I had to work and be on call Friday, so we didn't get to enjoy all of the long weekend. We enjoyed as much of it as we could though--we went to Destin early Saturday morning. Porter played in the end of the slip-n-slide, Jared fished, and I tried to get a little sun (I'm still painfully hospital white). Here are some pictures...
You can actually see Jared fishing on the pier in the background. I think he had a good time--he actually caught some fish. Nothing we could keep, but fun to catch.

On the way home..... Traffic wasn't too bad since we left at 9:00am. It was a short trip, but better than just sitting at home. Hopefully next year I'll actually get a real weekend.... I'll still have 3 weeks of residency at that point, but I can at least try/hope.

Worn out/Birthday Weekend

This weekend we went to Andalusia to relax for my birthday (I'm now 30). The rotation I have been on has been very busy. I don't get to see Porter much--sometimes I get home just in time to give him a bath and put him to bed, and sometimes I've been too late for even that. :( The best birthday I could have would be just getting to spend time with him and relax--sleep past 4:30am and not have the nagging list of stuff to do at home. It was a great weekend--just hot. So hot the pool wasn't even refreshing. It had only been 2 weeks since I had been home, and the pool then was still pretty cool for me. Cool enough that I had to "ease in." Porter had a good time swimming again, and I don't know if it was the heat or the swimming that wore him out, but he slept in a hammock chair for about an hour. He was under the roof of the outdoor kitchen with the misters on and a fan blowing on him and it was still ridiculously hot, but he seemed pretty comfortable.

I got a new iPhone for my birthday! I had the 1st generation iPhone, and I have loved it. I'm totally helpless and bored without it. It's the best electronic invention ever. Anyway, it takes video, and we tried it out this weekend. Of course, Porter was the star.

Water Baby

When I was home this weekend, Porter went swimming again.   He *LOVES* the water.  He liked sitting in the little baby boats, but he really would rather just be sitting in the shallow part of the pool.  He would float on his back with just his head resting on my leg, and would "swim" on his tummy with just one hand under him.  He put his face in the water a couple of times and didn't really seem to care.  He just looked up blinking his eyes and smiled.

Easter Weekend

This was a much needed weekend off and away for me. I've been working a pretty random schedule for the last little while at work, and last week I worked a week of nights to end it all. I don't do well with working nights--to put it mildly. Any extended period working nights calls for medication. So Friday morning when I got home I was very excited and ready for the weekend. This is what I came home to.....
Porter always migrates to this corner of the bed. It doesn't matter where you put him in the bed, he will end up here. We've started him with his feet touching the other end, but it doesn't matter. And Thursday night, we had an escapee arm.....
He played in his exersaucer while I packed his stuff. He has started to figure the thing out, but this is the only toy he plays with right now.

He had to visit the ducks when we got home. They've grown so much since last weekend. I don't think he really cared about them one way or the other. He was staring off into space most of the time. We just put the duck in front of where he was looking to make it look like he was looking at the duck.
Saturday morning we took Porter, Catherine, and Caroline to the Easter Parade and Easter Egg Hunt at FBC.

And Saturday afternoon, Porter "swam" in the hot tub at Nana and Papa's. I think he enjoyed it. He didn't cry, so I count it. He will probably enjoy it more when he can float in one of the little baby boats. He can't quite sit up well enough to handle that yet.

The Easter Bunny came. Porter was still a little sleepy and trying to wake up. He got 2 outfits, a bib, a crayon holder and crayons, sunglasses, and lots of chocolate (I worked a deal with the Easter Bunny).

He looked very handsome in his Easter man-suit. It's very masculine and shows off his muscles. (His Daddy was worried about gender identity issues--he doesn't even know what we could have dressed him in.....)
