Stabbed in the Back.... Literally

This was our 4:30am trauma alert. Steak knife to the back by the wife. This is the 3rd time she's done it. He says it will be the last......

It didn't get anything. We just pulled it out and sent him home.

He was ready to get it out because he was lying prone and he had to pee really bad, but we wouldn't let him roll over until we had the x-rays to know if we could just pull it out.

Home Alone.....

Jared and Porter are home alone this evening while I am working. Here are some pictures that I got... The first one was titled "I made a poo!" I wasn't sure I wanted to open that one.

Baby Ducks!

Mama and Bill got 4 baby ducks this weekend. They live in the basement right now, but when they "grow up" they are going to live in the pond/lake behind their house. I'm suprised Catherine and Caroline got as close as they did, as they are usually scared of their own shadow. Porter visited the ducks too, but they didn't take any pictures. I didn't get to go because I'm working a 24 hr shift today, but I'll get to be home for Easter, and we will take some pictures then. Also, Porter is going to go swimming! We have been working on his swimming duds, and are really excited to see how he does. He likes his bath so much I can't imagine that he wouldn't like it. We are just going to heat up the hot tub and let him "swim" in there. It's too cold for the big pool still. Here are some pictures of the ducks. I've been told they all have names, but Catherine was not available for comment when I was posting, so I'll have to ask her later what their names are.

Real Real Close

Whenever I take pictures of Porter with my phone he stares at it like he knows what you're doing. Then I figured out that there is a mirrored apple on the back and that he can see himself in it, which is really what he's staring at. If you keep getting it closer and closer to him he keeps staring and gets cross-eyed. It's very interesting to him, and very funny to me.

Porter the puppy

Here's where having dogs will come in handy. We are used to this--everything that comes near his mouth gets chewed. And the thumb-sucking is more like thumb-gnawing. Our 3 older "children" have nicely rounded all the corners on the furniture already so we're just going to give him our old shoes and something made out of ballistic nylon.

He likes the teething rings, but he won't hold them--they're too cold!

Commenting

I changed the settings on the blog last night so that anyone should be able to leave a comment. Let me know if there are any problems. So, here's a little picture for everyone to comment on.....
This is from the latest portrait session with Vicki. Hopefully she will be emailing me more to post soon!

King Grandchild #4

NOT us!  (Are you crazy?)  Parrish and Katie are going to add #4!  (That's my younger step-brother and sister-in-law for those who don't know.)  He will be here in early October--we are pulling for a boy, so Porter will have a playmate close to his age.  And we can unload all of Porter's out-grown stuff at their house all the time so Lil'Parrish will have lots of stuff and so we can make room for the ever accumulating mound of new baby stuff--win-win situation!

Teething and Dora

There's just nothing like a frozen plastic ring and some Dora the Explorer.

Alligator Riding

Here is a better picture of the alligator riding that occurred on the kitchen table this weekend. This is not a prophetic picture of things to come.... Porter will not be allowed to accompany Daddy on his evening adventures.

Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival 2009

This weekend was the 50-something-th Annual Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival. The streets of Fairhope are blocked off, and over 200 artists have booths with their artwork for sale. There are some really amazing things there, and we look forward to this weekend all year. Mama and Bill came down for it--this was Bill's first trip. Mama, Nicole, and the little girls came last year. We got a couple of spoons from the Spoon Man, a turtle painting, and Jared got an alligator.... you'll see later. Here are some pictures from the day. Porter got some wooden cars and trucks, a "Porter" train, some green beans (I think he could have done without if it were up to him) and lots of lovin' from the ladies.

Catherine, Caroline, and Porter.
Aunt Moth Ball and Porter. He's worried that she might eat him.
He's worried she might try to eat him again later.
Aunt Kim and Porter.
First day with vegetables. We tried to hide them amongst the fun-filled Fairhope day. Didn't work. He was not fooled for a minute. He's on top of things...
Done.
Riding Daddy's alligator. It's a bad picture, but it is so funny. It's just the right size for him.
