15 month checkup

This morning Porter had a recheck for his ear infections and... Shots!!! The ears are better, but still have fluid behind them, so we have an appointment with an ENT for consultation about tubes.
And he got 2 shots. He did ok with the first one, but the second one took him by suprise an was more than he could handle. We got some pitiful tears.

Now we're headed to daycare so I can go home and sleep!
One more night and I'm done with my first week. So far it hasn't been bad, but the first week is usually ok when I start nights. The further along I go, the worse it gets. Yuck!

Virus free parents

Jared and I are finally feeling better. We haven't eaten anything, but that's not a bad thing for us. ;) Somehow it's made the transition to nights a little easier, or maybe I just haven't noticed that I've been working nights. We are still anxiously holding our breath right now though, and really hoping that by some miracle Porter doesn't get it. He's been fortunate enough to make it almost 15 months without a gastroenteritis, and even though I know it's inevitable at some point, but I'm ok with it not being now.
On another subject, I didn't take any pictures during my vacation except for these two. They are of Porter playing with the headphones in mama's car that you use for the DVD player. I tried to get a picture when he first had them on, because he was grinning from ear to ear, but he took them off before I could get my phone/camera out.

BTW, he's sitting in Caroline's car seat. When girls are the first grandchildren, the boys have to ride in flowery car seats and push babies in strollers at Nana's house.

Gallery wraps from Vicki

Here is the other part of my order. These will be on canvas, and the border will be on the side of the canvas, not on the front.

Ducks

I just got the proof of one of the creations from Porter's one year portraits. I love it! Vicki and Laura are great!

Vacation and a virus

I was off last week---my last week of vacation as a resident. I am liking all the "lasts" I've been experiencing. We didn't have any plans, which was good becase our house needed some cleaning. And then we got a call that someone was interested in looking at our house (which we will be selling when we move, if you know anyone interested). We were not really planning on doing quite that much work, but we got on it and wore ourselves out to get some things done. And then the people found something else and didn't even come look at the house!!! Oh well, at least it's really clean and organized..... For a few days. ;)
The end of the week mama and I got a much needed hair day and had some great sushi in fairhope, and then headed to a-town. Jared drove up the next morning, and we started our house hunt. We've got a very good prospect that we are talking about and contemplating.
We came home early yesterday because I had to start working nights last night, and of course we didn't want to miss our Mexican night. I had not felt very good all day, so I only had a couple of chips, but Jared went all out and ate what I had ordered and his burrito (I had only ordered some guacamole
dip). By the time I got to work I was feeling worse, and shortly after, I experienced my Mexican again, and continued to do so for the next 6 hours. Jared was ok until about 10:30, and then he called saying he was sick. Porter does not seem affected, yet, and I sure hope it stays that way. We are feeling better, and are cautiously sipping sprite and Gatorade.

I'm on vacation

I get to sleep in!!! Which, if porter follows his normal pattern, means we'll be up between 5:30 and 6:00. Porter isn't feeling well and has goopy, red eyes, so we may be headed to the dr tomorrow. I had big plans for the week---cleaning, organizing, and exercising---but porter may have other plans.

Last call!!!!

And it doesn't have anything to do with a bar closing. Today is my last 24 hour call at the medical center---ever!!!! Well, as long as my schedule doesn't change for some reason, and that seems to happen a lot. My next rotation is nights, and then I go to the VA, and than I'm done!
I just finished my absite exam (American board of surgery in training exam) that we have to take every year, and now I'm just getting to the med center for my last 24 hour call here! Should be interesting with senior bowl and 3 mardi gras parades tonight.
****Walking update: it must be just something he does at daycare. He was back to crawling at home, although it's obvious he can walk. He wants to hold one hand or he drops down to the floor when you let go. Imminent though I'm sure.

Finally walking!!!! .....maybe

Jared called me this morning to tell me that when he dropped porter off at daycare he was walking. He said when porter's feet hit the floor, he walked over to his friend mason, and then turned and walked to the toys. Ms. Wanda said he's been walking more and more, but he doesn't at home. So, I guess we will see what happens tonight when he is at home. I will hopefully have some walking pictures or videos to post!

Porter's new "obsession"

Hairbrushes. And hairbrushing. Hair, cars, whatever.....
If it needs brushing, he's all over it.

Jared said this morning they were slow getting to daycare because porter had to brush his hair. For 20 minutes.
