Guess what I'm eating....

Yea!

Here's what it looks like now--after Jared has been taking up my slack all week.

Also, we had a wonderful dinner last night at sugar rush for their first "After Dark" event. It was awesome! It is out favorite place for lunch, and now it's gonna be our favorite place for dinner too!!

Porter gave me a cheese opportunity this afternoon.

The elusive birthday cake

I thought I had found the solution to all my nausea issues....  Zofran.  Everybody has been asking why I haven't tried it already.  Short answer--I don't know?  But I finally scored some the other day, and was pleasantly surprised how well it worked last night.  I went from not even wanting to think about eating, or much less cooking, to being able to eat my first meal of the day.  I was pretty comfortable until it wore off  hours later,  But by that time I was headed for bed.  Today was an ok enough that I didn't take one until later in the afternoon at about the time I usually start feeling really bad.  (And it just goes downhill all evening.)  I felt better, and was able to eat a little bit for supper, but I was really hoping to eat a light supper, and have a large serving of my birthday cake.  I have now waited the entire 4 hours of efficacy and still can't do the cake.  I am so disappointed.  :(
On one hand, I am really tired of feeling this way, but on the other hand, I feel lucky that it's not any worse than it is.  As bad as I feel, I haven't actually haven't "produced" anything.  I keep thinking that any day now it will go away, as I will be 14 weeks on Sunday, but then the more I talk to people, the more I hear that so-and-so was sick the entire pregnancy.  That's not what the sick pregnant person wants to hear....
Anyway, I'm gonna be really upset if I watch this cake ruin, or watch somebody else eat it (probably Jared--he had a piece for breakfast).  I think if I don't get as much as I feel I am entitled to, I will get me another one when I finally feel better.  Even if it is sometime in December!!!  We'll just celebrate my half-birthday, and new baby's 0 birthday.  It's MY birthday cake--dang it!!!

Birthday cake

Jared got me an 8th sin cake from sugar rush. He gave it to me Monday since he was supposed to work Tuesday and wouldn't be able to get a cake on my actual birthday. I LOVE cake. All kinds. And the 8th sin cake from sugar rush is no ordinary cake. However, it sat in the refrigerator uncut until tonight. I was hoping that by now I would be past all the nausea, but unfortunately it has kept me from being able to eat a piece of birthday cake. That is truly a serious thing for me. I felt good enough to have a piece tonight, and man was it good. Jared has been so sweet to not eat any since I didn't want any. (I'll pretend he's been sweet about it--I'm not completely convinced that he just didn't want any. I know I wouldn't have any problem diving right in if it were the other way around.)
I really really wish I could get past all the nausea. 13 weeks + 4 days....

It's a medley of sorts.

Montgomery afternoon

It was time for my car to be serviced, so this time we planned an afternoon at the Montgomery Zoo. I brought my good camera but somehow managed to forget the memory card. It was so hot we didn't stop much for pictures, so we were about halfway through the zoo when I realized it. Here are the two pictures we took with my phone.

My favorite part was feeding the giraffes. Porter was a little scared to do it. Porter's favorite part was the train. He went nuts when we went through the tunnels and asked to ride it again the rest of the afternoon. We had to time our exit for when the train was gone.
After the zoo we went by toys r us to kill a little time until the car was ready. Porter is pretty obsessed with bands, music, and guitars, so he got his own little guitar. He has put on several concerts with it.

Happy father's day

We had a somewhat abbreviated father's day because porter and Jared didn't get home until 4:00 Sunday afternoon. Porter helped Jared open a new shirt that we got him, but his real gift won't be here for another week or so. It is awesome, but I was a little to late on the idea to make it in time.
I am so proud to have such a good daddy for our little family. Jared has made some true changes in his life for our family and I am excited for what God has in store for us. It takes a real man and father to admit he has room to grow and actually commit to pursuing those qualities.
Here are a few fun pictures of Jared and porter.

My not so strange weekend

It really hasn't been too bad.  It really seems more like just a continuation of my normal week, when Jared would be working and Porter at school.  The evenings have been busy enough that I haven't sat in my dark house all alone, which was oddly enough one of the things that I would look forward to--just having some quiet, alone time.  Friday night I was operating until about 7:30, and just ran by the japanese, aka "no-fire" place on the way home.  Saturday I did my rounds, did a gallbaldder, and went to Nannie's to sew for a little while.  I had a case late in the afternoon, and got done just in time to whip up a couple of summer dishes for a dinner party I was attending.  The only kink--I got a call about an appendix in the ER, literally as I was gathering all my stuff to walk out the door.  No biggy, I scheduled it for 7:30pm (it was 6:00), ran by Patty's to drop of the food and snack a little, and then went back to Patty's.  Fun time meeting the new orthopod's wife, and getting to know some of the other physicians' wives better.  I stayed up til almost midnight and wasn't dying!!  How odd.  I left Patty's around 10:45, and had a late night texting marathon with the only other person I knew would be up--Brooke Ward Williams.  Hahaha!!! (Callee Jo--GO TO SLEEP!!!)
So now I am done with my rounds and waiting on lunch at Nannie's.  Everyone should be very jealous.  Jared and Porter should be home early this afternoon so we can celebrate Father's Day!!  In the meantime, I'm gonna take advantage of my last few hours of quiet and do some much needed studying for boards.
So I think this post turned into just one of those facebook posts where people write, "went to the grocery story, and then cleaned the house and now cooking supper," except a lot longer.

Strange weekend ahead

My parents, my sister, and Catherine and Caroline left for disneyworld last night, and Jared and porter left for mobile/the beach this morning. I am literally all alone this weekend. And I'm on call. Hmmm.... The problem with planning all kinds of fun stuff for me is the being on call part. I could be bored out of my mind, or work myself to death. I don't have a clue which one it will be. I have cautiously made a few plans, but the majority of the weekend is left open. I know that I will definitely not be cooking (not that I have cooked more than 2 meals in the last 6 weeks anyway). I'm ok with being bored, and I'm ok with working, so either way I don't think I'll be disappointed with how it turns out. I just want everyone to make it back home safely. And say a prayer for Jared's parents. They are in for a wild weekend.
Here is a picture of the p-pot right before they left.
