Stella is four months old today!!!
This third month has been filled with more coughing, breathing treatments, and staying with Nannie. What in the world would we do without Nannie!!! Stella started back to school several weeks ago and made it a whole five days before she was sick and has now been out of school for 2 1/2 weeks. We had a week of antibiotics, breathing treatments, and CPT. She was actually going to go back to school today for the first time, but just wasn't up to it this morning. She has had a pretty good day today and celebrated her 4 month birthday with prunes in her oatmeal tonight. She has been eating rice cereal in the morning and oatmeal at night. Last week she preferred a liquid diet, so we stopped the breathing treatments to see if that helped her appetite, and she is eating much better now. So far she has had green beans and carrots, and screams as soon as you put a bite of either in her mouth. She seems to like the fruits she has tried--bananas and prunes. Oh well, if there's one thing I've learned during my short time as a parent, it's that not eating something or not eating at all is nothing to get worked up over. But sometimes it is still hard to be at peace with that.
Stella is mostly happy--when she feels good. She loves her Daddy and seems to talk to him and smile at him the most. Go figure!! I do all the work and he gets all the glory. Maybe she is just tired of looking at me all the time, and is really saying, "Who is this guy?"
One major milestone that I am happy about--she sucks her thumb!!! Woo too! No worrying about keeping up with, cleaning, or finding pacifiers, and no going in and out of her room at night to put it back in her mouth. I did that for a few nights right after we came home from the hospital, and that is one thing I am not going to get up for a million times a night. I come from a family of thumb suckers, and so far it hasn't irreparably damaged any of us, so I say have at it!!! Now if we could just get rid of this cough we might get some sleep at night.
