Believe it or not, porter was not the cause behind the look on Stella's face. He was actually trying to comfort her, but it obviously wasn't working. He really is such a good big brother. Hence the reason "Stella's baby" is in the chair with them. He brought it to her to play with. He also walked around with Stella's baby on his shoulder patting her back. He talks to her like a little mama, and it is so sweet. I hope it continues when she is crawling after him and chewing on his toys.
The mumps: I guess we have them??? He has had no other symptoms of mumps other than a swollen face. No fever, pain, tiredness, nausea and vomiting, or any other symptoms. He has been completely porter with a fat face. We still have no idea where he got it from. These pictures were taken this morning, but when I got home right after lunch his face actually looks better. So is it really the mumps or just a swollen parotid gland of some other variety. Not sure. Either way we are staying away from those at risk--the very old, children who have not been vaccinated but have lost their mother's immunity (6 months to 1 year old), and kids who haven't gotten their 4 year old booster and are older than 3. This all is according to several websites and Dr E. That means no school for porter. And no schoolwork for daddy. And no rest from this crazy week for mama. As I've heard many times during my surgery residency--you can sleep when you're dead.
