Fairhope arts and crafts

Here is my "major" purchase from fairhope this year. It's an original, which is really cool because most originals are too expensive for me. The girl who painted it was really nice and she has just started a blog for her artwork. I'll be posting a link when I get back to a computer. This will go nicely with all our other beachy and key west style decor.




Porter got a cloth "busy book" that has all kinds of little tasks to keep toddlers busy, a pull toy frog, and a couple of summer outfits.

















Nicole, Catherine, and Caroline, are on their way down now, and Parrish, Katie, and Sylvie are coming down in the morning.

This week in words. No pictures.

My mom told me I needed to update. I haven't been posting as much lately because I'm on the opposite schedule as the rest of the world. And when I am home during the day, I'm either sleeping, working out, or trying to play with Porter and cook at the same time.
Jared got sick Sunday evening, so I've had even less time to post. Prter ended up staying with his Nannie and Poppie Monday night because Jared was too sick to be able to watch him, and really didn't need to be around him spreading his disease. And then Jared's mom got sick Tuesday, so we had to call for our emergency babysitters. I loaded up Jared and Porter and took them to work with me Tuesday night. I deposited Jared in my call room and got one of my friend's that is an SICU nurse to start and IV and fluids while I occupied Porter until Mama and Bill could get here. They drove down from Andalusia after work on Tuesday to get him and took him with them for the rest of the week. What a lifesaver!!! I so appreciate them.
Porter has been having a blast back home on the farm. He has seen the cows, chased the ducks, rode jeeps, gators, and bikes, played on the swingset and playground, and played with his cousins, Catherine and Caroline. I miss him, but I'm glad he's had a good time and stayed away from the sick people.
Tomorrow Mama and Bill are bringing him back and we are going to spend the weekend at the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival. I'll take some pictures there.
P.S. Everyone should get on to my mom and nannie for not taking pictures of all the fun stuff Porter did this week. I wish I could have seen it!!!

Antibiotics and diarrhea

Well, where do I start.... We took Porter to the ENT dr for his followup appointment on Monday. He had been having a really snotty nose and cough, and had gone back to not sleeping well. We were worried that his tubes had come out or were stopped up. His tubes looked good (yea!), but Dr Norris was worried that he still had some ongoing infection in his adenoids. He gave him augmentin, nystatin, and ear drops. Augmentin is really bad on the GI tract, and Porter does not handle antibiotics well, so we were worried about how this would go. He started having diarrhea last night, and his poor little booty was so raw and painful that we skipped his dose last night. We decided he should probably stay home from daycare today so I could keep an eye on his bottom better and keep it "pasted" (caked with boudreaux's butt paste). Between me working nights and having a diarrhea day ahead, we had all the makings for a miserable day, but it was just the opposite. We had a great day!!! Porter and I went to our favorite park at 9:00am, stayed for over an hour, and were filthy when we left. We ran by Target to get a few things, and Porter fell asleep on the way home. I transferred him to our bed and took a nap with him. He slept for 3 hours!!! He ate cheetos and a hotdog for a late lunch and then I set him up in our bedroom and bathroom to play while I worked out. He danced to his video and played all over me while I worked out. We tried to take a quick walk after my workout, but it started raining on us and we had to run home. Porter didn't mind. He was just squinting and smiling in his stroller. Then we both got a shower in our bathroom. Porter loves taking a shower--I just hold him with his back to the water and he lays his head on my shoulder and let's the water run over him. He actually fell asleep in the shower one time. After we got out, Jared got home soon, and we picked up a pizza for supper before I left for work. I know I'll be tired later, but it was worth getting to spend a day with my little buddy. A potential bad day couldn't have been any better! Here are some pictures from the day.

Hotdog and cheetos for lunch. Mmmm, nutritious. (We'll fight that battle later---we just want food in his stomach to help with the antibiotic associated diarrhea.)

The big news

We bought a house in Andalusia. We won't be there for another 4 months, but it was a great house in the perfect location. There's only one house between ours and Nicole's, Nannie King is in our backyard, and Jan and Frank are at the corner of our fence. For the Andalusia people that would know, it's Laura and Daniel Wells' house. Before we move we are planning on painting, doing some repairs, and adding a master bath. Should be interesting!!!

I'm up!!!

It's 12:05 am. Surgeons are extremely supersitious so I am not going to mention how unbusy my night has been so far (knock on wood, throw salt over my shoulder, don't step on the crack.....). I have semi-adjusted to being up late, so I have finished my activities for the night, and I can't turn off my brain and get any sleep!!! This is the worst part of working nights. Nothing to do, nobody to talk to, and I can't sleep. I guess I may have a little more on my mind than usual, and we are going to Andalusia in the morning, so that's not helping either. Anyway, I will hopefully have some exciting news tomorrow or the middle of next week. No, it absolutely does not have anything to do with a baby. But stay tuned!!! I'm super excited....

Dip

We have another dipper in the family. My niece Catherine was a dipper. He is just sucking the barbeque sauce off the fries, an then recycling the fry. Funny.
He is learning how to use a fork/spoon, but does NOT like to release the utensil for me to get him another bite. Mealtime can be a bit of a struggle in that regard. We tried rotating out the forks, but then he just ends up with 2 empty forks. He's getting the hang of it though.

85% walker

Porter's walking a lot more. Now the only time he crawls is when he's really excited about getting somewhere, like when he sees us come to daycare to pick him up. He's also become a bellybutton hunter and alligator wrestler.

I'm finally Mama!!

Everybody has been Dada forever, including Porter---he points at himself and says Dada. We have been working hard on Mama, and he finally called me Mama when I walked in the door this morning. I could almost keep him at home all day for that one, but not. We're about to go to school so I can sleep and be an even better Mama!
