4th of July 2010, Destin, FL

I have to first say, I only have 3 or 4 days of residency left. (I think I might not have to work on Wednesday).
Ok. We went to Destin for the weekend to spend 4th of July with family. We arrived late in the afternoon on Friday, and Porter swam in the baby pool that had already been readied by Uncle Parrish and Papa. We had a wonderful supper and went to bed early. Saturday, Papa and Parrish babysat while the girls went to the spa, compliments of Mama!!! I think the most common thought during that event was, "I don't deserve this." I was treated to a facial, full body massage, and pedicure. Beth, Katie, and Mama also had 3 "services" as they called them. We had a very relaxing morning, while the boys and sylvie went to the book store. Papa learned why we have to roll all of Porter's shorts down because he caught him in the book store one time with his shorts around his ankles.
We checked in around lunch and got ready for the outlets. We headed back to Sandestin after lunch with a tired Porter who would not give in to a nap. He did fall asleep on the way, so Mama played chauffeur and nap supervisor--she drove us around and stayed in the car so Porter could sleep. And he did. For 1 hr 45 min. We hurried back to the house to get all of our food ready and went over to the cottage for dinner with the whole King family and had another great meal. I don't know who won the rib contest. Can you tell how Porter feels about Sylvie?

Porter enjoyed some homeade ice cream and played in the water with Kayla. She found the way to his heart quickly--"Want to go see the ducks?"

We broke the rules and let Porter stay up late so he could see the fireworks at Destin Commons Saturday night. We thought he might enjoy playing in the fountains while we waited on the fireworks, but he wasn't too interested. He was so tired he could barely stay awake for the fireworks and was a little unsure at first, but he did want to see them and would turn his head to watch if we went a different direction.

After the fireworks we quickly visited Build A Bear to commemorate Porter's first fireworks with a bear. He loves all things fuzzy and soft. Hmmm.... guess that's why he likes his Mama so much. ;)
